Chris Owen Music

Welcome!  I am an acoustic singer/songwriter based in the Northern Westchester, New York area.  I also play electric guitar in a local progressive rock cover band infamously named Boneless Chicken.  This site is designed to get information out there about what I do, CD's of original music and upcoming gigs, both solo and with the band.  I hope you take the time to browse the site, listen to the music, contact me about gigs or purchase a CD if you like what you hear.  Hope you enjoy the site!

What I Do

My musical interests have been quite diverse which is reflected in my original material.  I was a Beatles fan growing up, then moved toward the progressive ideas of Jethro Tull, the Who and other like bands on both sides of the Atlantic.  I have always been drawn to the mix of the acoustic and electric.  In recent years, I have experimented with alternate tunings and solo performance, perhaps to protect my ears in my advancing age.  Particular influences have been Scottish Singer/Songwriter Dougie MacLean, the songs of Robert Burns and other Celtic artists.   I get as much of a kick from a delicate fingerpicking piece as a ripping electric solo, and I have tried to incorporate both into my original work.
